I don't know what the fault is exactly or what is involved in any modification. Yes, it would probably be worth doing, but since this is a known manufacturing/design fault it should be down to Ford to make good, whether that be proactively or reactively. They are avoiding the issue with Ranger engines totally at the moment and leaving many of their customers in the shite. This should not be down to the customer to resolve or pay for. They know damn well that there is an issue but they think that they can get away with it.
Common problem with that engine I'm afraid. Previous company I worked with had 3 "let go". problem is you get no warning! Same problem hit the similar engine Transit. Land Rover, who used the same engine fitted a different oil pump!!I have a 2013 Ford ranger with 2.2 litre engine, just coming up to 4 year old and has done 58000 miles. The ranger is serviced by Ford garage.
This week the engine stopped while driving and after rolling onto grass verge I tried to start it again but was dead.
Had it recovered to Ford garage, where I have been told that the engine has seized up. Ford say the oil pump failed and then the turbo and then the engine seized.
This all happened with no warning lights and quickly as it was driving fine and then just stopped.
Any one else had similar problems?
its the same with Fiesta diffs, pin in planetary gears held in by circlips falls down jams everything and casing breaks out, common faultI don't know what the fault is exactly or what is involved in any modification. Had’m for years! But apparently it’s only them’s that ever brakes down so it’s something of a shock to me to hear about all these other makes and models braking down as over the years according to many on this forum LR vehicles are the devils work.never owend a LR product then
same with the 70s ghrysler alpine. damhikits the same with Fiesta diffs, pin in planetary gears held in by circlips falls down jams everything and casing breaks out, common fault
Been to Norfolk recently an by you have some cameras over there. Up here in County Durham there’s no fixed ones but a couple of roming vansDunno why some are moaning about the 2.4 in the new hilux.with all the cameras about and plod you can hardly speed anyway.ive not yet been short of power regularly towing 3.5 ton either.im sure Toyota know what they are doing and maybe only offer this engine due to emission rubbish in Europe.think there are bigger engines in other parts of the world.
