Hi all,
63 plate ranger 3.2 79000 oil pump sh1t itself, no warnings lights, turbo and bottom engine beat all to Friday!! Waiting to hear back from Ford Uk customer services!!! Ouch!! Maybe should have got a tata, disposable at prices quoted!!

6k I'd bet , mine was on 3rd engine under warranty , it was the 13 plate , disaster zone

My brother had the oil pump fail on his 63 plate 2.2 ranger late last year, also outside of warranty. Contrary to what others here suggest he found Ford UK extremely accomodating on the matter. The dealer experience wasn't so great, but I guess there wasn't much in it for them.

Give them a chance. Be polite but firm given this is a known issue...

Yes to be fair, when I say I doubt Ford will be very interested I should say the dealer if anything like the Ford dealer at York! Other Ford dealers may be better. All said, a 2013 pickup with 70k on should not be having a major engine failure in this day and age.

You should try buying a pickup from those lot at york, I walked in on Monday and told them I need a pickup for April in my next tax year, straight sale, no trade in. I was expecting to negotiate price etc, instead I was given retail price, after 10 mins of discussions the price was still the same, sales manager and md chipped in and the price was still the same!
They wouldn’t negotiate at all, it was like talking to a computer

Ah well it's a well known fact that the Ford dealer at york are a bunch of merchant bankers.

I certainly wont ever have anything more to do with them.

However there is a good family run ford dealership in driffield which offers vastly better customer service.

Aye them lot rung me the otherday as they thought i was overdue a service. I wasn't as had been somewhere better (see above) anyway i took great delight in telling them how useless they were and how they wouldn't be getting anymore of my business.

Drillman has more experience of them than me. I called in at Ford dealer in Driffield last summer. Nice enough outfit. Was told 6 to 9 months waiting list. Maybe could get one sooner 'out of the que' - soon lost interest.

To be fair when i was looking i started there but the salesman had a rather blunt pencil. so bought elsewhere. There spot on with servicing and honest as well though.

I think my neighbours brother and nephew use them for servicing as well. It's a known fact that they don't take prisoners with shoddy service so they must be ok.

If you mean who I think you mean then certain someone would cop an earful if wasn't right.

Actually what they quoted with discount and nfu discount was quite competitive if they stuck to it. It mattered not as Chris at York Vans did me a deal on another d-max which being the old 2.5L undercut the Ford. Being same colour as the previous dmax not many around here know I've swapped so I avoid the "things must be good" in the market and can carry on pleading poverty (y)

My 2.2 ranger's just been involved in a rear end smash and I reckon it will be total loss. It's done some 72k miles and has had no engine failure, but has had electrical wiring issues along with paintwork problems Ford refused to fix on warranty.

After reading this thread I'm thinking buying a Nissan as it's replacement. Although they've had their problems with engines and chassis in past models, the 5 year warranty they now offer seems rather attractive along with a cheaper purchase price than any other similar pickup.

A ford ranger can be bought with a 5 year unlimited mileage warranty. It’s a shame there isn’t a dealer worth buying one off, I want that 3.2 litre engine but instead I can see us getting an Isuzu. The local dealer is selling pickups to everyone and providing the best service around

Where are you getting a good price on a Nissan
I have been pricing pickups and the Ford is only a couple of hundred pounds more than the Nissan

W R Davies is no longer there selling and servicing Ford. I think they have retreated over the border from Newtown with Nissan and Toyota dealerships and maybe still with a location or two with Ford in North Wales. Sounds like they are no great loss, at least when it comes to pickups.

Still have locations in Llangefni and Llandudno Junction.

I have delt with them previously, good company imo

I was told by our old Isuzu dealer that if they won’t budge on price then they probably don’t want to sell it to you. Either they know the vehicle will be trouble and they like you or they know the vehicle will be trouble and you are going to be a pain in the ar5e!
