Mine has got a fault code for glow plug 2 and is very rough and lumpy until it gets up to temp so I'll probably end up replacing all 5 glow plugs but I'm also considering getting it remapped. Can I ask who you went with for the remap because it sounds like you are very happy with the results?
My 2018 3.2 has been a bit slow to start on any minus° days this winter and a bit knocky until warm. It's actually booked in for wednesday as still under warranty.
This morning it started and idled lovely but then after a few miles the spanner came up and it's dropped into limp mode . Called dealer to ask if I can access and read him any code but he said just to switch off and on . Spanner away and a mile later the adblue light and check engine light now on despite the other screen telling me the level is fine.
Can see it getting a delete once warranty expired if this is start of headaches .
Can they not tell it's been deleted at MOT time?
Apologies to necro this thread.
I have exactly the same sound and circumstances as the original poster. I've changed all 5 plugs, seems 4 had failed. Happy days the clunk will be gone, or so I thought... It's still there, not quieter at all and while cold starts weren't too rough before, they're not what I'd call great now either.
I'm just wondering, do you need to clear any codes or anything after replacing the plugs in order for the motor to recognise they're good to go again? I'm wondering if I need to do that, or should begin troubleshooting other glow plug system problems. The sound and circumstances are absolutely identical, so it's odd that the same fix didn't work for me with 4/5 plugs failed as well. Any thoughts?
Cheers,
Miles
Thanks, Timbo, I'll get in touch with them. Out of warranty sadly though, so I suspect they may just tell me to replace this that and the other without too much concern. Fingers crossed I can figure it out, hoping it's not some sort of knock/slap piston related.
