Ford Ranger - age or mileage

I have a 2014 Ranger 2.2 which I've had since 1 year old and have found to be very comfortable and capable. It has 68,000 miles on the clock.
Thinking of changing it as it will soon be 8 years old, is starting to look a bit tatty and there is corrosion starting on the underneath. I would also like a bit more power when towing

Have been looking at Rangers for sale and been thinking which is more important, age or mileage? It only does 8-9000 miles pa but a lot of that is towing

The 3 alternatives I have found are:-

2019 2.0Biturbo, done 67000 miles, £23990

2018 3.2 , done 28100 miles £26495

Keep mine, 2014 2.2 done 68 000 miles, starting to show it's age

The 2.0 bi turbo , if its the auto and only if its had the timing belt changed

Those secondhand ones seem far too dear relative a new one if you are entitled to nfu discount etc

Personally at the price it is I'd be looking new for full warranty. Call me cynical but that motor isn't old enough yet to be sure its any better than the older engines and they seemed pretty good the first year or two didn't they.

And due to blow up when the oil pump dies.... or have you had yours done already?

Going through exactly the same decision making process right now. mainly because I cannot find anyone who wants to swap the oil pump! Very similiar usage and mileage!

Haven't had the oil pump done, haven't priced a new one, assume there is a long waiting list

You’d be lucky to get a new one in 12 months time though .

I'm from NZ so it takes a bit to compute the different metrics haha.
The lower mileage 3.2 would be my pick. At the rate you use it you could own it 4 years to be the same as the biturbo miles. And there's bugger all difference between px2 and px3 rangers that makes them that much more desirable aside from the daytime lights and pushbutton start (well obviously in the case the engine is too haha).

I've owned a 3.2 myself and I've driven the new bi-turbo. The 2l is the better engine and drivetrain stock, but I'd be weary of the longevity of it all.
My 3.2 was remapped and was fantastic for towing, I couldn't easily get the same gains by remapping the 2l so it put me off buying a new one.
