Ford Ranger Question

I am thinking of buying a 2016 Ranger 2.2 tdci. I have been reading up on common faults and came across the oil pump failure.

My question is what year does this effect? Is it older models or would this be a likely issue for a 2016 model.

Thanks

Seems a love hate thing with Rangers. Some love them, well @Drillman does 😆 and some hate them and have their fair share of problems with Ford being their ever helpful selves? Thought about a second hand Ranger myself but dare you buy one with no warranty? I’m beginning to think not.

Yea doesn't sound great. I will maybe look more at the l200. Think the hylux is outta my price range.

They’re all getting expensive or so it seems to me.

I thinking the same thing, too many reports of this oil pump failure and it doesn't seem to matter what year the motor is either.

Prices of all cars are well up atm. Think I will wait a few months for things to calm down a bit.

I think it only affects the 3.2 Ranger but possibly 2.2, but have been told the egr cooler can start leaking coolant into the exhaust system with knock on effects of warped head if not caught soon enough. Think they’re all built to break, but some more than others. Oil pump failure would be annoying..

Mine is a 2014 and one of the years that the oil pump issue is relevant. However mine has done some 65000 miles relatively trouble free so far and is worked hard and locally, towing a good amount. Just this week it has towed cattle in the 14ft IW box and five bags of fertiliser on the flatbed and one on its deck to the other place on some hilly roads.
I really should change the oil pump but my usual mechanic shows zero interest in doing the job. I reckon he's getting old and only now does regular servicing and MOT preparation. I'll ask someone else to do it when its due its next service.

I think the part is cheap enough but probably a right hassle to fit.

Yea it seems so...the potential of a dead engine isn't reassuring.
