Fordson Power Major Tractor heater plug?

Hi all
I have recently bought a Fordson Power Major and although it needs a load of work I am trying to get to start it.
What I cant work out is how the diesel is ignited.
I know there should be a glow plug or heater plug but where is it?
can anyone help as its driving me nuts?!

Those engines don't have glow plugs, just an excess fuel button which is at the base of the stop lever on the fuel pump. If you open the throttle and push the button the lever should move forewords slightly. I would try moving the stop lever first to make sure it is free as the rack can be stuck if it's been standing a while. Hopefully this will make sense.

A diesal engine is compression ignition, that is the fuel is compressed so highly to that it blows up , its just physics. It doesn't use or need spark plugs or even glow plugs Majors don't have either.
As mentioned above they have an ' excess fuel button' but if the fundamentals are in order it shouldn't need it ,especially this time of year.

Check that theres a good diesal supply at the injectors at the top,of the engine, then its hoping the engine is in good enough condition inside to obtain high enough compression to fire ...when its cold particularly.

THen Other than having a strong battery and starter motor its back to checking the pumps over and timing.

Happy days.

Thanks guys. I thought I was going mad!
We have a lot of other minor issues to sort, that are becoming bigger due to seized bolts, but at least I know I am not missing any critical parts.
Will be bac once all my parts arrive and are fitted (y)

The only bad starter's were 2-3-4000 these had a 3cyl diesel ok when not too many hours work, they could be fitted with glow plug in inlet manifold that ignited diesel fuel supplied by injector return via a small reservoir that looked like a small piece of tube, a new ign switch was also included in kit which had a spring loaded position that supplied 12v to plug. just to clarify, bury the trash, that diesels don't need glow plugs modern diesel cars use them and they remain on at a lower current until engine is warm thereby lowering emissions, also some old boat engines were started on petrol until warm enough to run on diesel but they would never start on it when cold.

International made a crawler that started on petrol and turned onto diesel.
Saw one started a few years ago if I remember correctly they had plugs one side of the head and injectors the other
Not wishing to be rude but is workshopsp sure his major is diesel as tvo models where made
