Has anyone had experience of the steering mechanism on a super major please? Having difficulty getting the steering rod from inside the steering box. thanks in advance.
Assuming you're referring to separating the track rod's ball joint that has a tapered end from the steering box's drop arm, do as follows - slacken track arm nut (but leave it on to protect the ball joint's thread when you'll be hammering it), then attach a ratchet strap from a girder or any immovable object to the aforementioned end of the steering arm and tighten it as much as you can, then if you have an oxy acetylene torch heat up the bottom of the drop arm in order to expand it, (without setting the strap on fire!!) , hit the track arm's nut with a hammer, then it should come off
