3-5%. Anything stronger will cause chemical burns and damage skin, letting in bacteria even more. IME, anything more than 5% doesn't cure scald any better, that rate is savage enough.

I add about 3 to 4 litres into 60 l of water. Keep it clean. After it starts to get mucky its time to tip out the footbath and start with new stuff.

I separate any with footrot and put the rest to a clean field. Of the infected ones, they get an antibiotic and one chance to get better. Second chance is the cull field.

This year my supply of Micotil dried up. I used a double dose of oxytetracycline instead on the 26 in 1000 that had scald. It used to be at least 50% that needed treatment.

Also what's everyone else using? As formalin is being taken off the market next year! Are rep said Klingon blue but it's lot dearer than formalin
Zinc sulphate 10% solution there's no fumes of it either best leave them standing in it for a while an them on a clean yard for an hour after to dry in. It heals the foot instead of burning it like formalin

Well done. How have you managed such a reduction? Hard culling? How long has it taken to achieve this. Im guessing this is a closed flock.
Closed flock for the last ten years.

It used to be that every ewe was put into the turning crate as that was quicker than looking for the ones sound on their feet.

The ewes with black hooves seemed less susceptible than yellow here (purely on observation, no science), so I started keeping replacements with this as one of the selection criteria. I culed anything that was persistently a problem, and didn't keep prodigy.

Using Micotil was also, I believe, a big factor in stopping the infection from spreading.

I think a closed flock is the way forward with dealing with foot problems and many others but as we run nc mules its not an option.

formalin makes the hoofs hard zinc keeps them soft formalin works OK if you have a long bath zinc better to soak in it .. funny thing is standing in water for a few hours will clear it up too old guys used to make pends in rivers and pen sheep in there for a few hours ( pays for the water to not be over there heads tho )

zinc needs another product added to it so it soaks in better it's found in toothpaste dry powder in raw state

standing on grateing after being done helps as well few hours to 1/2 a day

trim dry soak in zinc dry on the bus if repeat treatment needed .. in a few years smash up foot bath trim feet so they can get on the bus
