Hi all, taken on some new ground after being left for a year by previous tenant but them not agreeing to leave. A lot of the fields are full of docks/redshank like I've never seen before, some spots of thistle coming now and few spots off nettles. wondering what the best would be to do? Burn it all off and direct drill grass back in or something like shed loads polo to try get the docks. Grass that's there is nice with LOTS of clover coming through now, just need rid of all the docks

If it’s over run with docks just forget the clover get it clean first either spray or reseed

Only thing is was wanting to cut some for hay this year so would be nice with the clover in there....if I did just spray the docks off how would you go about getting the clover back in there? Broadcast a legume/clover mix or is that a drill job?

No clover will grow for a couple of moths after using most dock sprays, so you can forget about this year I would have thought.

The seed salesmen on here won’t like it, but if it’s full of clover now, and was left for all of last year, the soil will be full of seed anyway. It’ll come back on it’s own in time.

Unfortunately the same will be the case for dock seed.:(

could you graze it off tight and then weed wipe the docks, so leaving the clover intact. If it keeps dry the docks should bounce back quicker after grazing so giving you a window to do it.
