Forum abuse

I have noticed it creeping out into the forum in general, I am willing to skim over the trolling and the bile in the Brexit threads as it is an emotive issue, but have stopped using the rest of the forum in general as the bile has crept out there as well.

Yes, there’s a poster that likes to be smart and use French phrases that seems to be winding everyone up. The posts seem intelligent but I feel are actually designed to stir up trouble, it is unfortuanate that admin doesn’t punt them into the politics section.

I always write long posts. It puts off those who cant read or those have short attention spans. :sneaky:

I only come here for the abuse. The variety on offer is better than the vanilla sort I get from the wife.

You'd love Twitter. Throw in a view that doesn't fit in with the current pc agenda, and sit back and watch the ensuing snowflake feeding frenzy. Great craic.

But as others say , you dont have to reply.
Some seem obliged to make a derogatory comment about the author as if this gives , a reasoned reply.
I appreciate that on other forums there is a lot of abuse from both sides, emanati ng mainly from juveniles or extremists, however surely we can rise above this.
In the future we will have to live together, work together, hopefully have a few beers together.;)

Grow some thicker skin. Of all the forums I wind people up on contribute to, the 'abusers' on here are by far the weakest and least effective.

A member of a classic car forum got so annoyed about my constant belittling of British Leyland and the workshy knuckle-draggers who had worked there that he created an alter-ego, befriended me through the PM system and eventually got enough information that he was able to turn up at my front door with a claw hammer and threaten to bash my skull in if I didn't stop.

You boys are just playing at it, Sunday pub league versus the Uefa big boys.

what is it with Brexiteers, that they seem to be so grossly intolerant of any view, but their own. This forum used to be able to debate any subject, with nothing more than an odd tetchy comment or jest. Now any posting of views reflecting anything negative about Brexit, instantly attracts a torrent of abuse. Some regular posters on here are treated as though they are advocating the worst sort of child abuse. These are often people who have spent a lot of time giving good advice, to fellow posters on numerous issues, they do not deserve such treatment!
Are all Brexiteers so devoid of any serious arguments in favour, they have to resort to abuse.
I appreciate there will always be posters on here, of an age, where they really should be tucked up in bed, rather than watching RT, but please can we have a better standard of debate, than some of the supporters of the far left of the Labour Party

It's a highly divisive subject, with highly polarised views. There's plenty of passion in threads on hunting, ISIL brides etc too. The Scottish independence referendum was also highly divisive, with both sides resorting to personal threats in extreme cases. The EU psyche is deeply imbedded in everyone on both sides. It is also a high stakes game in most people's minds. Corrupt and bankrupt Brussels vs sovereignty. EU ag support and protection vs Gove's tree hugging vision of the "free market" and rewilding.

Let me be clear - posters on both sides of the debate behave in the same way, so I see no distinction. I steer clear of the shouty threads but have contributed to a few until they become entrenched and abusive.

I'd steer clear of subjects like Brexit if you don't want to see the darker side of human nature. You have a choice - you can ghoulishly watch these threads or you can click away to something else. Or just turn the computer/device off.

Spot on Mr B.
The Brexit issue brings out the hot heads on here and everywhere ( including Westminster :) ). Some of the abuse aka comments made on the BBC website are quite scary.
Even Her Majesty has requested tolerance in our divided nation...

You won't !! We're neighbours and mates although as a keen cyclist he's much fitter than me !
Was drinking with the neighbouring farmer and a lad that drove machines. The farmer played football. The driver was a strong guy but drank for a hobby.
They were having a semi friendly argument about something, big guy said "I'd beat the feck out of you:mad: "

"You'd have to catch me first:rolleyes: "

"How:scratchhead: "

"I can run a hundred meters faster than you:rolleyes: "

"Aye, and when I caught up with you:mad::mad: "

"I'd run another hundred meters:rolleyes: :D:finger: "

" :scratchhead: "
Was quite entertaining... But I suppose you had to be there:oops:

Just watch your back:nailbiting:
