Grow some thicker skin. Of all the forums I wind people up on contribute to, the 'abusers' on here are by far the weakest and least effective.

A member of a classic car forum got so annoyed about my constant belittling of British Leyland and the workshy knuckle-draggers who had worked there that he created an alter-ego, befriended me through the PM system and eventually got enough information that he was able to turn up at my front door with a claw hammer and threaten to bash my skull in if I didn't stop.

You boys are just playing at it, Sunday pub league versus the Uefa big boys.
Its not just the forum thats devided, the whole country is.

The problem with referendums is your ether a winner or looser, and no one likes loosing.
I don’t think anyone’s a winner this time.

Me too . it's great . folk take things personally imo . it's just an opinion , even when if it's wrong .
It's hard not to take things personally when someone offers a punch in the face - fortunately I am fairly thick skinned so can usually let such things go, but it does get a bit depressing to see bickering rather than genuine debate.

I wouldn't put up with that , suppose you have to give it back in an eloquent manner .

what is it with Brexiteers, that they seem to be so grossly intolerant of any view, but their own. This forum used to be able to debate any subject, with nothing more than an odd tetchy comment or jest. Now any posting of views reflecting anything negative about Brexit, instantly attracts a torrent of abuse. Some regular posters on here are treated as though they are advocating the worst sort of child abuse. These are often people who have spent a lot of time giving good advice, to fellow posters on numerous issues, they do not deserve such treatment!
Are all Brexiteers so devoid of any serious arguments in favour, they have to resort to abuse.
I appreciate there will always be posters on here, of an age, where they really should be tucked up in bed, rather than watching RT, but please can we have a better standard of debate, than some of the supporters of the far left of the Labour Party
You are joking, right?:scratchhead:

Thank you for posing your question @Exfarmer . I suspect your views are are about equally shared and felt by the other side.

Though I suspect maybe about 2% more by one of them!

See this is the thing, I could post your reply and replace remainers with pro brexit or whatever else you would like. But the fact remains people are stressed and their lively hoods are at risk, and when your livelyhood is at risk so is your marriage, business, friendships, etc. People are going to boil over. It's to be expected I guess

    I couldn’t agree more.
The problem is that we have all become totally wound up by the media, which has and continues to incite one side against the other. This bleeds over into encouraging further hype into our posts.

The BBC attitude for instance, really annoys me. It is funded by us all and doesn’t really have to sell itself. Yet many of it’s reporters seem to take utter delight in tripping people up and wanting to preach about the bad side of everything, rarely the positives.

An absolute classic this morning at 6.50 on Radio 4, was John Humphries interview with Sarah Wollaston in which he was trying to put words into her mouth. She didn’t fall for it. Humphries ended up sounding like a total prat. But she was very clever and didn’t fall for into his trap.

  • We cannot change history, Leave won. Remain lost and the media have hyped all the negatives about the result into a frenzy that will continue to upset both sides for ever. Had they have chosen a more positive and probably realistic attitude, such frenzy would have been more subdued.

This is fair comment, and I am embarrassed at some of the ludicrous on the remain side, which do nothing to enhance our argument.
However several regular contributors to this forum are the target of offensive remarks on a regular basis. If these commentators are so firedup by the posts on a regular basid why not press the ignore button.
It is rather like the lady who complains of rape and the judge asks and how many times did this happen? “every time I call round his house my lord”

It wasnt like this before carole was sacked, imvho SOME of the moderators are to blame,I feel they should keep from posting their views in political debates, with power comes resposibilty, you know like MPs that resign as ministers to speak their mind. They have allowed one poster in particular to post anti english posts, often in a very belittling way, it is no wonder he takes flak, I have given it to him a couple of times, dont dish stuff out if you dont want it back. While I believe we should just leave I have no problem with others that disagree

Yours is a very fair comment too.
All these Brexit threads end up as some sort of slanging match. If you enjoy that sort of thing, then keep taking the punishment.

To me, it seems a lot us have some entrenched views. But I think it goes beyond the pale when certain posters keep resorting to uncalled for insults such as Snowflake. Nobody seems quite sure what that means. But you can be pretty certain that it is an insult nonetheless.

Quite frankly I have got far better things to do than to continue to take part in them.
When somebody comes up with a sensible realistic suggestion or solution to the impasse, I'll chip in again.
But I won't stand for out and out insults or rudeness and more fool them that use such techniques.
It really isn't clever of them and shows these people up for exactly what they are, Bigots.
