Fraudulent motor Insurance scam.

In the last week both myself and my wife have been sent fraudulent motor Insurance policy bill's and one company has sent a default notice for none payment. Two different insurance companies which we have never dealt with, and one had a vehicle registration numbe that's not ours, and another a bank account reference but not one we've ever used, all of which have nothing to do with us and our address is wrong and our birth dates. All of which seams very pointless. But could possibly damage my perfect credit history.
Anyone else had similar???

We have had people use our address to apply for car insurance on line. After a few months grace the insurance company has sent a letter here to the person supposedly residing at our address looking for payment which of course will never be forthcoming. Meanwhile the person applying for the insurance has got away with a few months for free then disappeared.

I have taken this up with the insurance companies concerned, but they seem very slack in their checks and safeguards. I ask them how they can accept a name and address that cannot be correlated on any other records and they can't seem to answer that one. Very poor.

Had the same, last autumn
Reported to Police and the Ins company
Fraud dept looked into, cancelled the policy and that was that
Police said they must have got my name from a letter, found on a picking table at a recycling centre - staffed by East ern Europeans who frequently execute this type of ins fraud
