Ironic that they still work in the same way as Fred but the monumental amount of "H&S" probably prevented an effective rescue. Although if the poor guy was having some sort of MH crisis I wouldn`t fancy having a chat 300 foot up. :(

Like the railway workers having to wear ear defenders, but then they can't hear a train coming til it's too late ?

The last site I worked on we had to wear gloves and glasses, they were more worried about health and safety than getting the job done.

The working at height/ safety harness course has some pretty gruesome videos included. Just don't keep the key of the transit in your pocket with a harness on. If you get a good fall arrest you have to be got down rapid or you are fecked anyway. They just save on clean up. I have done ma.y safety courses and common sense does not apply.
Hi vis vests are my bug bear...loose clothes near machinery is no good.

Watching some of those emergency service programs makes you wonder how the fire brigade work with all the safety gear on when trying to retrieve people from vehicles i can understand it for fires etc

He declined chemo to do the tour with his traction engine, lived for 3 years after being given 12 months...... finished his life doing what he loved, fair play to him. Like an older version of Guy Martin in a way.
I think he had chemo a couple of years previously, had the all clear but it returned, possibly had some more treatment but then stopped it
