Already got the male coupler on drill and a female coupler to connect onto it. Just got to get the adapter for the correct port to female coupler for now. Drill will only be used on the tractor this spring.

The port is threaded M22 x 1.5 and seals with an O ring.

M22 to 1/2" BSP £2.45 + VAT delivered
M22 to 3/4" BSP £2.65 + VAT delivered

How can FLOWFIT do it for the money?

I think it combines with the spool returns, goes through filter and then returns below the oil level.
Therefore there should be no air to froth.
As somebody said its not a true free flow but it is filtered and less back pressure than going back through a SCV.

Only reason I asked was when I returned oil into the back of my massey, through the correct port on the top cover it filled up with froth

I've got two tractors that use this return, the one in the photo above and and another that also has a loader on, both the loader return and free flow return share this port. Collectively they have over 19,000 hrs and have had no problems with running hydraulic fans, frothing or heating the oil and they've done a huge amount of drilling, one tractor has probably done over 30,000 acres.

Is it standard on a 15 yr plus old tractor... Not really standard :)

If you want a true free flow return you will have to tee into the return from the rockshaft valve. Look in between the rockshaft valve and cab from standing on the drawbar and you will see a 40mm hose with a hose clip attaching it to the rockshaft valve. That is free flowing into the diff housing. It will cause a little frothing in the diff housing from normal but it will work as you want.

I fitted an old qr coupler that was inclined to be Leakey, with a new o ring.took out the bung and screwed it it in as per Simons photo.no leaks as there is not much pressure on a free flow return.I was plumbing up a McHale baler.

Talking about bad design, keep an eye on that hose mentioned by NZ Tech. The side where it pops in the backend is just push-fit. It popped out regularly when I emptied my forage wagon, new fitting made no difference. I fixed it by putting a jubilee clip on halfway the hose from where I tied some big tiewraps onto a nearby oilline, no problems since then.
It's especially awkward when it's pops out just a little bit and you only notice the leak when you come back from the land seeing the oil track on the road.

I came up with this. 3/4 "flat face coupler next to the brake outlet.
Flat face is a much better solution for a free return due to higher flow and less resistance.
Does make me wonder rather than fitting ISO couplers, which are particularly rubbish for collecting err rubbish, why tractor manufacturers don't simply fit 3/4" flat face for all spool fittings. They are a superior coupler in every way over leaky ISOs.
