Free High Resolution Satellite Image

Satellite imagery is a useful tool in many a farmer's precision toolbox, used for identifying soil and crop variation and creating variable nitrogen applications.

With our high resolution satellite scans we can produce Soil Brightness, NDVI and Chlorophyll imagery which can be loaded directly onto a smartphone or tablet (either through Google Earth or our own SeeCrop app) to be used in the field.

We are currently offering all UK farmers one free sample image for a selected field.

Our farmers use this imagery to identify areas of soil variation, monitor crop establishment, weed emergence and pest/disease damage, as well as apply nitrogen variably. Our precision farming software, the Rhiza Toolbox, allows users to create their own variable nitrogen plans exactly how they wish, applying the right amount of nitrogen in the right place as the crop requires. Used in conjunction with our SeeCrop app, users can monitor fields and map observations whilst crop walking, and then share this information between all farm staff and advisors.

The latest scan from the 13th of February can be seen below and we'll update the thread with scans as they come through.

To receive a free satellite image:

1. Go to Google Maps - www.google.co.uk/maps

2. Use the ‘Search’ function to locate your chosen field (you may need to click on the ‘Earth’ icon in the bottom left corner)

3. Right click in the field and select ‘What’s here?’

4. Copy the coordinates shown in the top left box and send them through to us.

Either works fine :) We'll get some imagery processed and sent to you.
Thank-you, you lovely person!!(y)
I love looking at maps of the farm:)
I just wish I'd got some aerial photos from last June/July, every drain showed up like a scar from the ground, but I didn't figure out how to mark them.

Not a problem, I'll see what we've got for June and July. It sounds like you need our SeeCrop app! Mark and map any field observations to a GPS location using just your smartphone - https://www.rhizadigital.co.uk/

Do you happen to farm within this square? We're able to offer a free day of soil scientist surveying to new customers in selected areas as part of a UK soil mapping project we're working on with Cranfield University and the James Hutton Institute.

52.293420, -1.063331 Interested to see what you can tell us about this field; no precision ag work on it so far but I know it well so observations would be greatly appreciated.

My co-ordinates are:

53.386597, -0.618745

I'd be interested in learning more, but wont be able to apply a variable rate this spring.

That time of year again @Rhiza-UK
In the first post above you show a field on my farm taken a couple of years or more earlier (I think 2013)
Are you able to tell us what you see in any of the pictures (the frame 6pics*7)
I sadly did no more than see what you took at the time and took it no further
mine 5 down 1&2

PM your details and we can have a look at your field again. Might be interesting to see whether current crop variation shows similar trends as those shown in 2013.
