I heard from Ontario. The protests must be resolved in the Canadian way, mustn't they.

There's less nuisance in the city, from what I'm told, but it's far from ideal. I have been watching BBC World News's Ros Atkins's clear, concise reports, and was advised to watch PBS, too. They both cut out hype, and show both sides.
I have completely given up on PBS. It was once a wonderful network. It is federally funded so should be unbiased which is why we watched it during the 2020 American elections. The sour looks and comments of the commentators and reporters when it looked like Donald Trump was going to win were revealing. Their unallayed joy the next day when it was announced that he had lost equally so. I would expect more neutrality from them- either way they get their paychecks and bonuses. They no longer show both sides.
Same with the Weekly International Guardian.Had a subscription for 20years and enjoyed it very much. Found the articles well developped, interesting and broad in reach. We re-subscribed in 2019 and couldn’t read it. It read like a propoganda pamphlet .What has happened to journalism? It’s become garbage.

That's sad to think a public service has changed so much. I'll still watch PBS (because beyond Sesame Street, it's new to me), and stick to Ros Atkins who's a reliable person, and a good journalist. (I would have said that well before learning where he comes from, btw.) Nobody is omniscient, though. Emerging pictures can be very difficult to fathom.

News networks do seem to be influenced by the Wittersphere and Faceache for their content. I know that students of journalism can quickly find themselves down rabbit holes, and for seasoned journalists, there's increased work to do in winnowing what is truly going on, and reporting without falling into spin. Loads of checking context and fact in reporting on broadcast news. Interesting Times!

Argh! Loony Slebs! Social media were incredibly lax in letting so much misinformation and disinformation loose on their platforms ~ which makes the occasional loopy Sleb look like an expert.

Then there's politicians 😱 Our Prime Minister unable to distinguish between a quick, civil, covid safe unwind after work ... and a full blown party. Denying the wholly unruly culture of Downing Street. Johnson has been name calling and mudslinging, too. Dreadful man.

Just wondering how many people ran their alternative views past the SARS-CoV-2 virus for its opinion. It's a virus. It spreads fast. It mutates. Scientists from molecular to medical have worked flat out to track and curb its spread, develop safe vaccines, save lives, and reduce long-term impacts in survivors. Mustn't forget about the strategists and logisticians who worked flat out to keep people fed during lockdowns. Plenty of time for Slebs who worked hard within that system, and who gave good information,
Good information depends on your views around Covid, is the correct information to just let it rip, build herd immunity and get on with life? Or is it to go in total lockdown, cause division in society and allow people to lose their jobs if they do not go along with the forced vaccination programme (coercion is force ).
In a free and democratic society everyone has a right to their own opinion. If we are going to clamp down on "misinformation" why is religion still touted? And even worse intelligent design?

There's the rub. The problem is that a war against a virus that's novel to humans has been skewed by all manner of influences other than the most basic and simple principles of human biosecurity. The best description of its spread was Prof. Jonathan Van Tam's in his Royal Institute Lectures (carefully set so that the children present could understand) ~ it's like a wildfire that's been hopping between people, between countries, between continents. It's needed stopping, and curbing. Every country is at a different stage in that process. That's the sort of good information that has been around since the outset.

Nobody has ever been expected to "believe" in Covid. Letting it rip was never any humane option ~ irrespective of whatever beliefs, or none, that anyone holds.

Internal politics outside of the UK are beyond me. Those of the devolved Nations within the UK are a bit of a mystery, too. Just hoping that the end stages of the pandemic aren't hindered further by any variants that are more virulent than omicron. Nobody should forget people who are still shielding, are vulnerable through being immunosuppressed. Why should they be imprisoned by the pandemic?

If most of the border states have now announced lifting the vaccine mandate then it's over, Trudeau hasn't got a leg to stand on and the truckers can go home victorious (surely?)
Doesn't matter what what Trudeau does if the US doesn't remove its mandates on the border as well. Also worth remembering, that the people organising this seem to have been west coast white supremacists, just using this as an excuse to create political unrest. The Tuckers Union has always been outspoken against this action and the people organising it..

I would say the truckers are no more white supremacist than you are. Ordinary , often self-employed ,people who do a tiring job, mostly on their own, who happen to be white.I have been impressed by their ordinariness .
I also see that this is finally a chance for that completely down graded group of people in the west, ie men, to stand up for themselves and their families. Protectors of the home and hearth. Bless them!!!

I see the bbc has taken to calling them "anti mandate"rather than "anti vax"

Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland said at Monday's news conference that banks would be able freeze personal accounts of anyone linked with the protests without any need for a court order.

That's just downright sinister. Tyrannical regimes have a long history of freezing the bank accounts of those that oppose them, such as Hitler's mob freezing the accounts of all those they deemed to be "enemies of the state" in 1933.

Unfortunately for us Chrystia Freeland is the grand daughter of a Ukranian Nationalist Nazi sympathiser.

you forget that it's not the ordinary truckers and farmers at the protest who are labelled white supremacists/far right/nazis....they are accused of being led astray/organised/hijacked by this evil coterie.

This is just fabrication by the Russians:-

Another noteworthy contributor to Global Research is John Helmer (Welch and Helmer 2018), who initiated the January 2017 media frenzy around Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland’s grandfather’s involvement with the occupying Nazi regime in Poland during the Second World War. According to Maclean’s columnist Terry Glavin (2017), the story can be traced “through a maze of cranks, propagandists and Putin fanciers” until it reached mainstream media. The story has been broadly identified as a Russian disinformation campaign. Recent articles on Helmer’s blog also promote other Kremlin positions, including the claim that the Skripal affair – which involved the poisoning of Sergei and Yulia Skripal in the UK using the Russian Novichok nerve agent – was a UK government conspiracy to incriminate Russia (Helmer 2018) (Stemming the Virus 2019)

History will tell. In the meantime I find her personally most unsympathetic as well as virulently anti- Russian which is not a good opinion for your ( former )Foreign Minister to hold about one of your two closest neighbours( Arctic neighbour. Should not be underrated with the ice caps melting).

Most of these world leaders are Great Reset lackies, they get their orders from outside Canada not within. There is only way for the freedom truckers to go now and its not backwards, as there will be no appeasing deals coming from Turdeaux or Freeland.
