Looking at changing my vehicle soon. Had pick up's, dont need or want another. So been looking at the usual family/work options about and like the freelander 2. Any fellow members had one? Anything to look out for and are they basically worth bothering with. Wont be towing much if any at all and the same for going off road.

Been running a terrano swb commercial for a while and she got too crusty for the mot, so after a good look around for similar alternative bought a 57 reg fl2 auto and commercialised that. Loving it so far. Have serviced the haldex n diff but so far so good. It is surprisingly capable off road still on the road biased goodyear tyres.

And then again there are some lemons amongst them. I had some dealings with a friends 09 plate one that had the Haldex replaced twice, new propshaft and other work but was still not right, it would occasionally lock up the transmission when reversing round a corner, not helpful when backing out of a car parking space.
Then there's plenty of folks I know who really rate them.

Got a 58 plate Auto, seriously nice car!!! On 114k, had Haldex done at 100k, if it hasn’t been done before that and it’s near that mileage get it done! Service it and it’ll be grand. Cant rate it highly enough but never towed with it as it doesn’t have a hitch.

The old man had his from new,now on 70k and it’s never seen a spanner.
He services it smack on with local garage and it’s been total 100% reliable.

I’ve got one and it’s been great, Mrs Bg told me she would never drive an auto and now won’t go back to manual.
It’s on about 110000, the only expensive repair I can remember is an air con compressor. There are a couple of splits in the drivers seat leather but I know a man who can sort that. LR sat nav is not the best.

I would buy another tomorrow

Had one a while now, 09 HSE, bought at 3 yrs old. Only done about 80000 miles as I only do about 5000 a year in it as I have a Hilux for rougher work.
I really can’t justify anything newer.
Okay as an occasional stand in for the Hilux and a nice place to sit on a long journey.
Started looking at Disco Sports but they really haven’t too good a reputation.
I’ll probably run this one into the ground.

Spent quite a lot of time looking for a late low mileage auto box F2, youngest are now about 7yrs old and will be strong money.
Concluded that DIscovery 4 would tow for farm or caravan better, be easier to find, and was no more money really to buy, which we did

Mines a 57 plate GS auto (105k on it) so quite an early one. Bought on condition and evidence of love, not age really. i wanted an auto for following stock and just generally nicer to drive. The 2.2 160hp is pretty perky.

There are some dogs about. If the rear or front subframes look scabby, walk away. Plenty want silly money for them too. Also check the driveshaft is still there and its not a 2wd!!!
