I have one it hasn't frozen in the 7 years it has been in temps down to -12. Works in Canada I was told so should take anything the UK can chuck at it. Only been necessary here maybe twice (once for almost 3 weeks) when everything else has frozen up.

Cheers BB

Put one in last year not frozen to date, but would suggest you need to put a pipe to drain the water away as in very cold weather the water could freeze before it could drain away. You can get versions that can be fitted through a wall if its easier to fit that way

Over £50 seems dear, I use several layers of bubblewrap or foam wrap around external pipes covered with old feed sacks to keep the birds from pecking it and cut down 2.5L plastic containers lined with a couple of inches of foam to cover the taps .Normally remember to fit these around a week after the first frosts have frozen the taps!

Trouble is i have to take account of twenty demented horse owners . They have a job to turn taps off let alone cover them up. I asked one last year why she had chucked five gallons of water over the yard which turned it into a skating rink, she said it wasnt freezing when i did it i thought it would dry in a few minutes :banghead::banghead:
