I don't agree with you, Macron is right and here's why...

There will be factions in Moscow who don't want this war and would get rid of Putin. They will be older powerful men with children, grand children and extended families. To stage a coup and fail will mean horrible deaths for their families , so it has to succeed.
If you tell Russia that there is no way back from Putin's war , whomever's in charge, why would they risk everything to depose him?
They have to have someone to call and say " Putin's dead, we're in charge, we need a negotiated ceasefire and withdrawal"
Who would you have them call? Boris , ROFL!

On newsnight an army general was saying this war could last 10 or 15 years!
In my view it only has to last 2 more, if Trump is re-elected he will not continue the supplies to Ukraine as it will be America first all over again.
That was why Macron said "NATO is brain dead" ,at the time Trump was President with MAGA and his withdrawal policy.
These could all be back soon enough and where will that leave the defence of Ukraine and Eastern Europe?

A cease fire and withdrawal IS a humiliation, putin isnt the only nut case in russia give them a square inch of the ukraine and they will regroup and be back for more, the only difference is they wont make the mess of it as they have this time, the mistake the west made was not responding to the annexation of crimea etc.
