We are mifted about plenty of things.
They get away with it as their classed as and agricultural nation and we are classed as an industrial nation and all the French families and authorities are more closely linked and support their causes direct and indirectly.

A lot of cars now, nearly half, now displaying a hi vis on the dash board. I assume as a support. I struggle to be for or against as I can’t actually fathom quite what they want (other than for macron to resign)

I haven’t been stopped yet. What do they actually want when they stop you?

They didn’t say anything to us they just had a barrier across the road. A few weeks ago they paid our toll charge which seemed to be a better way of getting support rather than f@cking up peoples days

One of the French guys I was with said the yellow jacket in the windshield meant they didn’t hold you up (as much) as they see you are supportive.

They wanted the tax rises on diesel , electric and gas stopped. The tax was going as subsidies for renewable energy. Old cars are being banned from cities . The control technique is being tightened again from January.
These all affect the rural dweller and the workers more than the rich.
Macron got the prime minister to announce the postponement of some of these .
He is reforming and closing rural schools and cutting choices from the curriculum, these will directly affect my youngest girl. The rich can afford private education.
Macron spent 26 000 euros on hair and makeup in the first 3 months of his presidency. The modern equivalent of
Let them eat cake! ?

And another thing, the new 80km speed limit is increasing journey times. The kids bus now takes 10 minutes longer to do its run. The drivers are paid by the route so are doing more time for no more money.
Everyone is pee'd off with Macron, postponing things till the summer will just mean demonstrating in better weather.

If you pay 47% of your revenue in "cotisation social" for 42 years When you retire the interest on your savings arent taxed well the first 24k euro arent, Not any more Macron has started taxing the pensioners and apparently he is going to start taxing people for dying, that is why alot of the gilet jaune are retired people only use gas with the wind behind you!

Ahh the problems of 'old Europe' the old folk do not want to work but want social care paid and to leave their cash as inheritance to their children - ask Mrs May - she raised the subject of paying for social care and a 'dementia / death' tax' in 2017 and lost the Tories their majority. And see what has happened. The world is complex - the individual is simple. Hey ho.

I see that subject was raised again last week by the health minister by way of a 2.5% 'supplement' to income tax paid by the over 40s to pay in to social care.
