I see that subject was raised again last week by the health minister by way of a 2.5% 'supplement' to income tax paid by the over 40s to pay in to social care.

I had missed that. But to link this with another thread where a General Election is suggested to break the impasse on Brexit a GE would have a broad manifesto and such items as this would be involved. So for individual voters would either deflect their vote away from the Brexit intention to these sorts of issues or depending on circumstance allow a future government to slip in manifesto commitments to change on the sly as individual voters focussed on the Brexit element of their GE vote. Hey ho such a complex life - I am off to my burrow to hibernate!

Exactly, I have the feeling that the great unwashed are being done up like a kipper. Hibernation seems like such a good idea (y)

Yes the insurrection of 2016 as the history books will write was a 21C event - in bygone days the ruling elite would have dispatched infantry with fixed bayonets. But today it is complex legal jargon and convoluted sentences and words which the average joe in the street is bamboozled - the simple definition of Leave and Remain is lost. An average Joe knows when he has left the pub and when he has remained in the pub - or so he thought. But from henceforth that will never be the case again.
