Seems grain etc is or being considered not to be exported by the French during these times , Germany ripping up greening areas , the Irish being asked to plant more , when’s the penny going to drop here?
Dont make me laugh, I wouldnt need to be told , although retired the veg patch has been substantially expanded, and the lad who now farms our land had changed a few plans.

Do you think there really is a shortage of food? I'm not so sure.

Besides we will bear the brunt of it when there is a surplus again

At what price point do our Government step in (after lobbying by the processors who need to beg our produce on the cheap, to sustain their business model), and requisition grain in farm stores, "for the public good"?
I'll bet there is a contingency plan somewhere, it is only farmers who want high prices.

there isnt at the moment , many farms using previously bought fert and feeds carrying on regardlessfor now , Nichols (MVF) have held prices till first april , will be a different world when we have to source feed , fert , fuel at the inflated levels , thats when the hard decisions will have to be made on what you can spend on , unless farm output costs rise , and i can see tesco etc still holding us over a barrel,

When will the penny drop with farmers that they don’t need to grow more than they currently do and that it is their responsibility only to look after their business, land and family.
Thing is who does not grow all they can already??
Gov for years been convinced we can up production as we lazy farmers don't really try hard enough.

Internationally, Algeria is launching an invitation to tender for wheat for June loads. France has reassured Egypt by suggesting that it would guarantee its wheat supply if necessary.

Farmers are human beings and the £ sign speaks loudest. Take a grant from the eco lobby or bid for a spot on Spring/Autumn Watch and see where your loyalty lies. National food security has some fierce competition indeed.

There is a major frozen food based European company which had brought its annual price review forward by 6 months has now delayed the announcement for a month because they are having to reassess pricing again - need to get another £12 m out of the market place ….
Brewers are saying prices up 20% , not the grain but the energy
