It will mean the end of our sugar industry.
Sugar % is in the 15's at the opened UK factories. Yields are down too.
Can't see our government doing a u turn and allowing the return of neonics.

Mr Eustace and the Conservative government decision now. Ball is in their court. I am sure the UK industry will ask for an emergency approval for the 2021 crop. There is adequate time at the moment for the seed supply sector to treat seed. The longer a decision is delayed the more difficulty for a smooth seed treatment and supply. Will be interesting to see what happens.

I see absolutely no chance of a U turn on this from the UK government.

NFU Sugar Chairman has been saying no chance of a derogation in UK for some time. Pretty much given up on the idea from what I could tell and possible view that pursuing it would not be a good use of political capital.

I seem to remember DEFRA was asked to apply for that same derogation in the Spring when other countries were doing so, and they refused.

It’s alright though, as we’ve taken back control and handed it to a government that values our ag industry so highly...

I don’t quite understand this?
This was known some two months ago :scratchhead:
So much so, my son works on a uk farm that grows beet and I was having this conversation with him before their combines were rolling.
Where he is, the beet is a disaster (as it is here in France this year) so surely the uk will follow suit.
