Looking for inspiration, I would like to put straight discs on a 6m folding subsoiler .This will hopefully cause less disturbance. Has anyone done this ? Answers and pictures much appreciated

Exactly what i want to do to my V-Form, Cousins want £230 per unit, so £690 for my 3 legs!! Anybody recommend a good place to pick up some dowdswell disc units like @nick... above?

My local dealer had a few 18 months ago but all discs were worn out.i picked the best three for £100.had to get get tubing machined to fit disc stalk as no size available to fit stalk into.that cost me a bag of spuds.works a treat.probably £150 all in including aerosol of paint and my time which is 'free'

@nick... couple of questions if thats ok? I have got to the fabrication stage with mine now. Got the dowdswell discs, got my metal tube and bits of flat metal ready to go. Your top bits of tubing with the bolt screwed in, is the bolt screwed tight onto the disc arm the only thing holding the disc unit in place? If so what is the handle like bit of metal sticking out the back of the tubing? Also what did you do with the central disc unit of the 3, my subsoiler has a bit of tube welded on by cousins with a threaded hole in it for, I assume, their disc unit to fit, looks like a dowdeswell disc unit will fit in ok to me with a bolt screwed in to hold it in place.

The top bit of tubing with a bolt screwed in is to stop the disc dropping out when machine is lifted out of work.there is room for a spacer there too To alter the depth of work.even though I took shear bolt from disc arm and adjusted to what I thought was ok and then welded arm to disc swivel mount if you see what I mean.the bit you describe as a handle at the rear of the round bar is there to stop the disc swivelling when lifted out of work and not returning to the correct position when let back down into work.the centre disc mount on the frame will take a dowdy swell disc stalk.the outer two mounts for the stalks,I had to have machined to fit the disc stalk as I could not get tubing that was the correct size for the stalk.these need to be a pretty tight fit and I fitted grease nipples to lubricate the stalks.hope this all makes sense.any more questions just ask and font forget the pictures

Basically copied your design @nick... hope thats ok. Think i made the long lengths of flat to long as theres plenty of space where the disc could go back 2/3 inches so i added extra metal across the top and underneath for strength.
Tested mk.1 in the field this morning, makes a lot of difference compared to the middle and left legs with no discs on. V pleased.
