We've a adjustable divider in our front box for grain and fert. Can shift it depending on fert rate and its handy if struggling to get a bag of either in. Can send you pictures of ours if you plan to do anything similar.

Finally got back in the workshop and a bit more work on the front hopper.first job was to remove the flanges from the bottom of the hopper that held the spreader slides and replace them with the one we made to hold the Accord metering units. We weren’t sure about the orientation of the units as on this hopper we’re using horizontal venturis rather than the standard vertical ones . In some of the pics you will notice that the venturis are at the front but after a bit of buggering about and machining we modified them so they were handed and could be mounted so as they were at the sides which makes calibration easier. Next job is to mount the fan and as we have modded the venturis it can now go right in the middle between the two units and this will make the pipe work a lot neater .View attachment 968841View attachment 968842View attachment 968843View attachment 968844View attachment 968845View attachment 968846

Interesting that you’ve gone for the venturies that way. Our old accord / farmforce had the vertical venturis and then the outlet came through back top corner of the hopper which was good except the pipe work in the tank was annoying. The new twin outlet Horsch with the horizontal venturies running across the front and the the pipes running at 45 deg up the hopper I find really good and then the fan on the side I think is a really good layout. Looking really good looking forward to seeing more are you looking at grain and Fert with a divider or just 2 outlets for width? Have you got a slide to shutoff off the outlet above the metering device found that handy on the old drill miss it on the Horsch.

Our other front hoppers have the vertical venturis and it is a pain fitting the pipe work inside the tank this is a lot neater .this will be grain only for wheat and seed and fert for OSR . Slide shut off would be quite handy , I will look into that .

When you are drilling osr and fert will you join the pipes and mix the seed and fert? I take it that it will be a different drill on rear?

Have you had any thoughts about going down the pressurised hopper route as Horsch do just to get 6 m with one metering unit? Much as I didn’t like the idea when it first came out back in 2003 ish? It does seem to work and certainly gives more flexibility for-grain and fert at 6 m
I don’t know anything about the pressurised hoppers or how they work . We made a drill that was 5.5m with a single metering unit but that was on its limits.

I’ve been racking my brains trying to come up with an idea for slides in the bottom of the hopper but can’t work out how to seal it from the elements . Any ideas ?

Our old accord fert hopper had a spacer made out of flat steel (maybe 3mm flat bar) between the hopper and the metering unit. It was three sided, down both sides and accross back. You could push a flat steel slide in from the front. Nothing ever came out the gap.

My current amazone has similar.

Will try to get a picture forvyou.

I’m not worried about seed coming out it’s moisture going in that could be a problem.
