Front loader Identifcation

Hi

Just purchased a Leyland, there is a front loader on it, but having trouble identifying it as it has been painted over, and I cant seem to find any other models with the tipping cylinder on the underside of the frame as this one is. Got me thinking if anything could have been installed incorrectly or its a bodge job or something? Any help would be great.

I wouldn’t worry too much if the tipping cylinder is under the frame if it appears to be working ok, iirc David brown/case loaders of about 30 years ago used to have that type of arrangement so it’s certainly not unique

More than 30 years now, but you're right, that is the set up that DB/Case loaders used. I'd say it's probably a DB ram going by the shape of it.

My guess is the loader started life as a trip loader and was then converted to power loader by someone who took inspiration from a David Brown loader

At a guess 800 to 900 kg, limited by a few factors, counter weight at the rear, size of the lift rams and hydraulic pressure available.

Any more and you're putting a lot of stress on the front axle then.

Has it got power steering?

Yeah it has power steering, pretty sure its the synchro gearbox as well. Also its 2WD so not sure if that is a factor to consider
