Front wheel hubs breaking

Morning, just wondering how common it is to have a hub break and wheel come off on a tractor. Got one here that I'm losing faith in.

Thank you

Got any photos of the failure?

Heaviest thing that tractor lifts will be a bale of silage. Don't think it's had a bale on since the last break though.

Low tyres pressure, rims set out wide or wide tyres, steering with weight on, lack of counter weight, turning while up against a wall or in deep ruts etc etc all these things will make a differance and several combined would be a massive differance.

Genuine part or non genuine? It might be a bad batch of either so buy from a different source if possible. 🤷‍♂️

Also there is a good portion of that crack rusty so there would have been signs of a crack if you had looked, which with a repeated failure like your having wouldnt be a bad idea to have a clean off in side the wheel and check it regular.

What make of tractor, I’ve had both break on my loader tractor without warning, leaking oil and though it was seal but on investigation turns out they were cracked, first on was insurance claim, 2nd one a few months later I didn’t bother claiming, cost about £1000 each time including labour. Have since bought a handler to do the donkey work around the yard.

Dealer has done all repairs so I assume genuine. Standard width. Haven't checked pressures, but not soft. No counter weight. Rear Wheel weights from new. Never been against a wall. No ruts.

Photo was taken days later but I did wonder.
How regularly would you check it? It only lasted 20 hours. But maybe that's the stock farmer attitude in me.

I just think you've been unlucky to buy a tractor with a really weak front axle. Fixing it is not going to solve the problem.
My loader tractor is an old JD6400, the ZF axle doesn't look particularly strong, has had serious abuse, and never touched , except for changing worn out steering joints. And welding cracked wheel rims.
Looks like you will have to change the tractor.
