Frontier Fengrain tie up??

That’s not good to hear. Maybe it’s an area thing. We’re based in Essex and have started dealing with Cefetra with the local office at Sudbury approx 30min away. The service levels have been very good, with our Farm Trader making a real effort to understand our business and give myself and brother options that are unique to our own circumstances. It also helps that the accountant gave the green light to sell to them.
*Wiltshire Bob* have you tried dealing with a different Farm trader from your local office ? Not sure if you have one in Wiltshire? Did this years ago with another merchant and the service level improved dramatically.

Its a good point, I might give that a go, Cheers

Then you would see that the year before they made a profit.

See what I was saying. We never used to worry about grain merchants. It was the Spud people we had to worry about.

And when they do lose money it's us that are going to pay. One way or another.

Well done Openfield. Can’t imagine this year is going to look that cracking for them.

Will be very interesting to see their next set of accounts.

Selling assets to post profit? I wonder how Angus Cereals members feel about them too?

I've just had that email too. Union Invivo are selling their half share of Gleadell to ADM. Union Invivo are a French farmer co-op run by professionals. I had the opportunity to see them in Paris a few years ago with Gleadell (just after TFF was born & I met @Clive and @Alistair Nelson there too)

Should possibly need to rename the thread to ' Grain merchant developments daily wrap up '

So we have

Premier division
ADM Ag
Frontier
Openfield

Championship
Cefetra
Cofco
Glencore
Saxon

+ Indie league

Any omissions? ( or even emissions? )

I think you've got the key players there.

Regional & niche merchants like United Oilseeds, Robin Appel, Dewing, Harlow Ag, North Herts, Grainco, Bartholomews, GB Seeds too.

The reason Openfield don't take their profits off to a foreign shareholder is because they haven't made profits lately. As others say - check Companies House records. Not trading with Frontier is a daft idea, it's like saying that you won't buy from Amazon.Just wait till we have block-chain data to deal with as well. Farming will move forward or go bust, time for self-serving thinking to change. Brexit will increase the rate of change. Darwin's rules will apply. Just saying.

We haven't traded with frontier for 8 years now as we got fed up of their attitude. Not saying we won't ever trade with them again but we've certainly not missed them. Farmers don't need frontier but Frontier do need farmers.
