Europe it completely bust too, more so than the uk, most of the south was bust pre covid (spain portugal greece)

you think there gonna keep handing out subs... they have already said they propose to reduce them, i suspect they will take a big hit like ours.

i think were better off out now more than i ever did before personally!

were all fu3ked, in Europe or not, who knows time will tell!

This is very true. Subsidised EU agriculture is coming to an end, maybe EU agriculture is coming to an end?

I was amazed that so many farmers Voted Leave?

I cannot fathom it out
Subs, selling development land and general rocketing land prices = wealth and big egos without ever having run a profitable business. Protected from and therefore little understanding of global commodity markets and the realities of surviving in an unsubsidised and competitive business environment

I understand the new CAP over there will have a reduced budget, but nowhere near the extent of the drop being planned here. They are also apparently intent on keeping a degree of direct payments to reduce the impact of price volatility.

Our lot are intent on cr*pping on our industry from a height, as they have been trying to push the whole of the EU to do at every single round of CAP reforms for decades.😡
To complicate matters 'our lot' may be different from our lot in Scotland. I think the SNP recognise the risk to the rural economy if subs collapse.

Something needs to be done about development land it’s causing a big imbalance.

Only a farmer could receive a substantial annual payment and then bite the hand that feeds him , yeah some large commercial farmers who vote leave new what they where doing but any farmer that relies on sub and voted out is going to be very very disappointed but they will have "taken back control " ?

However, under the plans seen by the Financial Times, English farmers currently receiving more than £30,000 a year are set to face cuts even higher than 50 per cent by 2024, with the slice of payments between £30,000 and £50,000 to be cut by 55 per cent from their pre-Brexit rates, the portion up to £150,000 to be cut by 65 per cent, and any payments beyond that to be slashed by 70 per cent.

We have had many years to prepare for the loss of subs yet still there appears to be those who want still get their yearly fix, how many of those who take on FBT land say the sub just goes to the land owner ? So why are they worried by it going, rents will plummet if farming isnt profitable, inputs will need to follow, machinery prices will drop.
The going gets tough the tough get going, if it gets as bad as the 1930's which is very unlikely the same will happen, a whole new generation of young keen vibrant generation of farmers will emerge.
Too many of the current one has become too used to get their fix and taking on more ground just to willy wave over how many acres they farm.
