Hurt my back really badly just before Xmas moving a barrel of oil in the workshop. My own fault entirely. Absolute agony, 20 mins to get off the floor, hanging onto walls to move around the house etc. Doctors were useless, chiropractor helped a lot, but the main thing she said was that I should go to Pilates. In my ignorance my assumption of Pilates was a load of blubbery menopausal women sitting on a mat in a village hall somewhere. Wrong. A friend recommended classes at a local gym. Seems there are different types but this is Reformer Pilates. It’s kind of a sliding bench with springs to create resistance and can be used in dozens of different ways. There’s a bloke saying what to do and to motivate the group. It’s bloody hard work and the first time you do it you think it may finish you off, but it’s brilliant for working and strengthening your back / legs / shoulders etc Never ever thought I would do anything like it but go every week now. Not saying it would work for everyone but Its certainly made a huge difference for me. ( view is quite good too, lycra clad gym bunnies do it )Will you update us in your progress. I've got three herniated discs and am not getting anywhere with any treatment, so interested to hear what others have had or will be having. I'm only 35 years and have sent thousands on physio, chiropractor, osteopath and now trying a personal trainer.
