We used the shearwell macs last year and got on well with them, a lot of them stayed on for 4 or 5 days, some were still on for over a week. When you put your hand under the mac and felt the lambs back warm and dry it helped you sleep at night. We are getting full again now so will have to start turning out with macs on soon

Doing that thing at the moment of opening the weather app every five minutes as if it will suddenly change what it's telling me.
Have you had last nights rain? @GTB mustve too!
Rain gauge says 6mm this morning so far! Fields can't seem to take it for some reason? (n)(n)(n)
Sun is now out so 20 lambs being turned out today!

Used to lamb outdoors at the start of April.Always get at least 2 weeks of god-awful in April here, just no telling which two weeks,so we put our lambing back 2 weeks to mid April to reduce the weather problems by 50% in theory. Now the crap weather is always the last 2 weeks in April.
Two worst days of the 'winter' were late April last year. Bought in lamb ewes which started later the year before and got caught with two shockingly wet days in early May.

Are these lamb macs any good? I've never tried them but on a day like today could probably save a few lives? How long do they stay on?
yes, they are very good, cheap lifesavers and if they are the better makes(cant remember name) then they will stay on most lambs for at least aweek, simply wouldn't consider outdoor lambing without them now,i lamb in may and anything born last round at night before dark would get a jacket without question

Just back from checking lambing shed and snowing and blowing like buggery. Off to bed to lie awake and think about the 90 ewes with lambs outside in it.....(n)

Diazapam. Crocked myself three weeks ago - get to take these at night for "muscle spasm". 20 minutes after taking one it's like cutting the strings on a puppet - best night's sleep ever.

Seriously, do hope all ok. I hate nights like this, you feel like you need to be out there but there's nothing you could really do.

200 ewes/ 400 lambs inside, bloody place is full to the brim. Got 100 in neighbours buildings. And they keep on coming. Like a game of chess trying to empty pens! [emoji22][emoji22][emoji22]
