Fuel Cards = Scam !!

Hi all, not sure if this is the correct place but .....

We've had fuel cards at our local garage for probably 30 years, 4 cards, the garage has changed hands/ fuel company a few times over the years but we've stuck with it. Currently BP. Over the last couple of months I've started to take a bit more notice of what they charge, it's now over £650/year, just for having the use of them, before any purchases. Anyway, had a chat with management, we've decided to get rid of them as too expensive and not really needed so was just in the process of trying to cancel them. Last month I was desperate for a bit of Adblue, stuck 3 cans on the card - I've just had the bill and there was a huge charge for the Adblue, I thought they'd charged me twice ....... No, they charge £100% plus cost for anything that isn't fuel !!!!! I've messaged to say that is daylight robbery and we are cancelling immediately - Be aware people !!!!!

No issues with mine & its only £3 a year for one card mind.
Only get some derv on it tho afaik it wont do anything else.
currently £1.05 + vat for it this wk.
Dont use it at any supermarkets tho, they add a charge ontop!
Local independant garage is only 4miles away its perfect

Gave 'em up a long time ago as not cost effective. I used to have an account with a local Garage who packed up and recommended a fuel card. Used it for maybe 12months and Then I got a credit card purely for fuel, and paid off each month on DD.

This allowed me to shop around for cheapest fuel and worked far better.

I don’t see how That’s a scam.
They’re charging you for a service and the charges are there to see.
It’s more like laziness on your part for not doing homework

We have our through the buying group, so no annual fee. We were warned to only buy E10 petrol and basic deisel, anything else might cost us more than pump price.
I did buy adblue once and it was £1 more for the 10l than advertised price.
If I need E5 petrol it goes on the debit card.

Call me stupid if you wish, I’m just informing people to be careful and to check as I have now been caught out. First time I’ve put something other than fuel on the card. £150 plus vat for 25L of Adblue.
Lesson learned and I’ve moved on.

I had a card for a bit. But they kept sneaking the price up and there was a surcharge on petrol at the local filling station which left it even dearer.
In theory it should have been a good job but it wasn't. The cheapest place locally also wouldn't accept it

UK Fuels here, no charge what so ever.
Used to be charged an admin fee per use something like 2%....
After I phoned up to complain about how un-competitive their pricing was, the fee disappeared and the prices suddenly improved.
Fuel cards can be handy you just have to be mindful....
