For get the price of crude regards fuel prices in 1980 it peaked at 140 to 145 dollars been well over 100 dollers since 2000 many times they are just profiteering and government loving the income from tax just wait till the profits come out of the current time will be eye watering.
You're not in factoring the exchange rate. Oil is priced in US dollars. The dollar is currently sky high against the £ and euro.
 
I'm not denying there is profiteering going on but do people think that barrel price is the only cost factor. To get from crude oil to petrol or diesel (or any other refined product) takes a lot of energy which isn't cheap at the mo (for whatever the reason may be).

Yup pound was worth 2.33 Dollars way back then nearly halved in value. the British economy is starting to really feel the very weak currency
 
My local agricultural diesel supplier sent an e mail asking for farm code. Never been asked for this before.First steps on the way to rationing? Last delivery lorry drive I spoke to told me thay had run out of commercial diesel in their storage tanks for a few days 6 weeks ago.
