Fullwood vacuum gate opening valve?

I was wondering how modern vacuum gate valves work?
Our 50 yr old Fullwood parlour has those rods that connect to a black square slider on a brass manifold with the 3 pipes on !
Give trouble when worn
I am sure my brother in law said they were obsolete now ,so was wondering if anyone had any old ones they wanted to aprt with or knew of an alternative ??

You need to check it is the valve and not the ram seals leaking (think it will be the ram seals)
If it is leaking when you have the bar pulled back, pull the front air pipe off the valve and if that pipe is sucking air then you just need to strip the ram down and clean it with hot water

Picking some up from a former Fullwood agent on Monday:)

Thanks . I have got a spare ram or 2 and I actually resealed two ! You can hear the slide hissing and not sealing properly ,and although I put the spare ram on to make sure ,it still messes about !!
I find that the main problem with these rams is the crap getting in the front wiper seal(or the small seal where the ram rod goes in and out ! ) It picks up crap on the inside and that presses against the seal itself ,making the rod hard to slide in and out! You have to remove the rod from it and ease the sh!t our from under the seal edges (without cutting the seal edge )
I will cuss if a new valve does not fix it .
Cheers now and thanks for replying! :)

Where did you get the seals from to reseal ? Presume we are talking about the blue 3 inch diameter rams .
The seals are the problem on one of mine, works intermittently, but any slight leak elsewhere and the seals don't work.
Sounds like a faulty valve but if I pull pipe off valve it is sucking straight through ram.
Got one quote for new seals £ 500 + !!!!

One of our rams was the same working intermittently and i stripped it down, washed it all in warm water and worked the seals a bit then put it back together with a bit of vaseline on the seals and it cured it

MY local hydraulic man got the seals from somewhere , I think they were about £50 but its a while ago now . Usually ,as Yelrom says , you can strip clean and put silicone grease on the 2 main seals BUT not anything on the front smaller seal as that picks the dust and shyte up and makes it collect in the back of that one ,making it tight ,as I said above . But if the cylinder is pitted and scored ,its doubtful if its can be repaired to be honest , but its worth a clean up and see what happens

Does anyone know of any decent Fullwood gate rams as I’ve got a couple that want replacing or know of a decent supplier of new ones at a reasonable price
