Funny noise of mf5445 engine.

Carting bales yesterday and the tractor started to make a squeeling noise, like fan belt slipping, now it making a rough sound when you throttle it, but when ticking over it sounds normal, what could that be, it pulls OK.

You are nearer the tractor than anyone else, so examine it carefully for anything obvious and the source of the noise. Use your eyes and ears and your grey matter. That includes checking fluids and filters and for bits that are loose or have dropped off and for play in pulleys and bearings in, for instance, the alternator and water pump.

Exhaust manifold gasket quite common, can make funny noises, or other than that alternator or fan bearings? Belts ok?

Mine squeeled for a while but stopped. Only when running flat out. I thought it came from the steering orbital but not sure.

Yes, so have I, two. An early JD6200 with a piston type tensioner and the 8360 with the coil spring type. Also have a noisy bearing on the Toyota but its been like that for years. More of a rumble on that one.

However the 5445 does not have an idler or a tensioner as far as I know. The twin V belts are tensioned by adjusting the alternator, just like a 135's.

Engine balancer does that,has happened to both mc cormick powered 1004 perkins engines.one got in time and just needed lock tight and tighten up, other one broke one or two bolts because didn't know what was wrong and needed the tractor every day to feed cattle and kept the revs down under 1400 thinking it's not going to get any worse
