Future of first milk

I'm afraid you are totally wrong as I checked my facts today and it was confirmed that the total volume of milk has not fallen at all. Scottish volumes might have fallen but they have been matched by greater production in other regions. They have always bought in milk when and where they can make a margin on it so there nothing new there!
FM have certainly been in a bad place as a result of some poor management at a variety of levels but lets recognise that we now have a different organisation which is now competitive. The last thing we should be doing is spreading misinformed, inaccurate rumours that will simply undermine confidence just when the business is improving (at last!)[/QUOT

and long may it continue.

No takers then ... Point being when are FM going to start to look after present members and stop trying to shore up falling supplies by signing new ones .. That's not going to happen and the board are deluded thinking so .. Board efforts have resulted in no recruitment at all ..there are more resignations to come . Maybe concentrate efforts on getting more to those you have just now .. My neighbour is a FM member his price is far better than it was last year and he's gratefull .. So if the board are reading this .. Well done but don't lie about supply please .. as if you would. !! In our area we have had 700 mills of rain in June July aug and sep .. it's a record seemingly .. All stock are in up here now. It's a catastrophe .. All the best boys over and out .. !! jtt

Too much speculation and rumour mongering, much of it deliberate.
I thought this section of the thread was about lost litres due to resignation and packing up . When they fail to materialise in the quantities prophecised it turns into an argument about rain gauge readings???

The Midlands perspective is that there is too much production in the North, relative to processing. And much of this inevitably heads South. This is why we so bitterly rejected the notion that we should shoulder the burden of the initial price cuts 2-3yrs ago.
I don't know of any FM members in this area whose milk volume isn't up.
So, we're up. They're down, and a lot of what they normally produce travels South
The word that springs to mind is equilibrium .
Not saying this is what is happening!
I don't know! I could be talking cr3p.
But my cr3p's as valid as the next man's.

Oh, by the way. New member signed up in this region. That's Gen. - Bizarre but gen.

Potential not fulfilled ... At all .. Now thinking of a board members position would they really want to be frank about the business NO. In order to make the business appear strong they have to give positive signals. Don't they. !!! As a takeover target they need to be in a strong bargaining position... If I was an Irish coop executive I'd consider a first milk takeover when the pound takes its next dip in the bath ... jtt

Lots of fm neighbour s here .. Not many want to do forum stuff .. I'm asked to comment by them ... It's the least I can do to help .. FM get in a strong position and everyone will benefit ... jtt.

@jockthethistle - you say "no receuitment at all" - that is simply untrue so please don't say otherwise and you are doing your neighbours (whom you claim to be representing on TFF) a diservice by repeating unverified rumours. There may not be much recruitment in some areas but the fact is that volumes are stable and importantly are in balance with demand. Again in terms of "looking after existing members" one of the topics we discussed at our recent members meeting was how members would prefer to be "rewarded" for their capital investment.

Brilliant news on capital and recruitment .. show them the money.! And publish names of new producers. Good news stories need to be publicized .. The more positive pr the better. So get on to your board and get the on the pr case. I know there busy arn't we all .. But seriously every new recruit should be celebrated. The press love these articles when it's all provided for them .. All the best and no animosity from this end t all. slange. jtt

@PREES How do you pay a dividend to producers without having to pay those who have left but still hold capital ?

Members who are left really should receive anything imo, leave for a better price, weaken first milk aaaaand get a bonus to do it?! That would pee me off. Let them sell their shares when the share value is worth more, that would be it for me

What happens when its your money and shares that are at stake? Pretty poor attitude some people have effectively lost ten of thousands propping up FM
