Veganism can't happen without a huge drop in world population, if it is to happen who is volunteering for the mass cull in the human population that can be fed from the areas of the world that can produce plants that him and can I've on.

Being vegan is mostly an option for wealthy westerners so I wouldn't give it too much attention as most of the rest of the world don't have such choices.
Thinking of emigrating to most of the rest of the world then are you?

For the industry it is going to be death by a thousand cuts I'm afraid. Give it ten years and probably most animal production will be commercially unviable given that forecast future trends become only half fulfilled. It only takes a small decrease in underlying demand to make a big difference to commodity prices and profits are only marginal on most farms today.
Yes, the better land may well be converted to arable, but much of the new alternative products are likely to contain very little farm crop. Environmental schemes are likely to be significant income generators for more part time farmers in future.
Oh well , just have to do something else then.

Jeez Hugh! You got any good news? The problem with traditional foods is just that; they aren’t trendy and modern enough. Modern man seems to want something different and new all the time. Bit like cars really!! Lol. Seriously it’s hard to answer the supposed drive for alternative foods as it’s seen as defending something which is deemed out of date. The modern world wants “new” and different all the time now. I for one will continue to eat meat all be it In moderation

No I'll just supply an AD plant with grass and grow malting barley and wheat, and fatten a few cattle and lambs for the freezer as it won't be available in the shops.

Why would I move?
The banks may force large numbers to do so. It's not impossible. The probability is increasing at a rate of knots.

That is what it will boil down to for a large number of current livestock farmers, at an accelerating rate not seen for the last 100 years I'm afraid. Possibly large tracts of marginal land will become redundant, as has it been in the past.
Brexit will do that , you said so . so this is a double whammy . wow

And ? Is changing the job really such a big deal? If it happens , if you really believe it is happening when’s the farm sale ? Put your money where your mouth is .

The majority will be like you and me, no doubt. Trouble is, with the population increasingly being made up of post millennial, a significant proportion of their diet, but not all for most, will be of non-animal alternatives. I have no problem with that in principle but it should be realised that a ten to fifteen percent reduction in demand for animal products will have an absolutely devastating effect on animal product price and net farm incomes compared to currently.

To be in denial of this and not ready for the change is to be like the proverbial Ostrich; letting events overtake us while our livelihoods go down the pan.

"is acknowledged as a major contributor to climate change" lol. Only by people with no knowledge of such things but who make a mahoosive amount of noise. Predict what you like Tesco, people will try the vegan new clothes but will ultimately drop it. Ultra-processed crap like the fake meat that Tesco want to sell will only hasten that.
