I was probably one of the first people to subscribe to the Farmers Weekly website and the fwi email facilities. I have put up with years of poor service yet have tolerated it because I felt that FWI ought to be at the forefront of British Agricultural information. I buy the FW each week from my local newsagent (in an attempt to keep him in business) but now cannot view most of the of the content on the FWI website as I do not have a annual subscription.Does anybody contribute to the various FW forums ?
Breathe.com that now run the FWI website appears to be just a computer without any human input what so ever... I am I alone on FWI or there some other users out there who are as stupid as me and are hoping for a better service.?

Be cheaper to just subscribe by post, give the difference to your newsagent in an envelope and you then get a code for the website!

You save fuel, still get the access and newsagent is happy.☺

I've been a contributor to the FW forum for years but I think it is now in its final stages. I have posted recently but can't get on with the new layout. Like you, get my FW from local newsagent for the same reasons and am not allowed into the main site. No Tim Relf or FW staff to voice any concerns to any more. It's like a ghost town except for a few old diehards.

Gave up on FWi forums about 5 years ago as there were too few contributors and some very nasty bitchiness, gave up on the website about 3 yrs ago when content became limited to those who don't subscribe, gave up on the paper version about 4 yrs ago too and started getting FG instead.

So pleased to hear that I am not alone.! We are all very much aware that the TFF has taken over from the FWI but I am just amazed that the "powers that be" within the FW have not seen that by expecting people to subscribe to the FWI site they have just shot themselves in the head.! The site is slow and I would have thought that the Power Farming experiment would have shown that there is not much interest in paying subscriptions for old information...sorry but Twitter and Facebook are the way forward.
As soon as I can get my IT man to make the various arrangements I will be leaving FWI and Breathe...They are just a nightmare...!

I used to be a regular contributor to the FWi forum like a number of others on TFF. I left a couple of years ago due to the new crappy layout and because there were one or two total w*#kers on there that the admins wouldn't get rid of. Apparently their constant anti-farmer vomit was good for discussion. It wasn't so good for the forum because now it's all but dead.

It's a shame really as a few years ago there was a really strong community on there. There was an annual get together for a couple of years and a few of us got tickets to go the the FW awards.

Oh well, onwards and upwards!

each time I visited the site be it for information or to join in on one the forums I lost interest due to it being slow and demanding money so just went to the TFF or Twitter. I am not sure that the FG is much better (there are indications that they are looking for money if you want more than the headlines of a story.)

I've given up the postal subscription a couple of months ago, and haven't missed it yet. And it seemed daft that I couldn't access the stories on line despite paying for the paper subscription. It's so ridiculously slow now that I wouldn't bother anyway.

I have stopped getting FW a few months back to, it had turned into a big advertiser and I didn't read much of it for the money, there are plenty of free/cheaper mags and here to get info

And that's another ghost town now.
There isn't a lot of loyalty on the Internet compared to paper print publications.
If you dont give what the user wants the the user just clicks on another site.
TFF has managed to do what most want. 17400 registered users and rising!
Will it last? Who knows.
