Any dose is a healthy one! You don't have to go full rate & need to tell the spreading operators accordingly as it's in their best interests to max out each pass.

You just have to be aware of the rules governing maximum limits and timings and keep the paperwork straight.

Smaller annual applications are likely to be better than a big dose every 3 years or so from a soil biology point of view. Keeps OM cycling through the soil organisms, it's their food (carbon source) after all.
That's what I am aiming for, smaller amounts incorporated rather than ploughed in, would also work with DD if I ever get that far before they ban leaving muck on the top.

Can they really insist that we incorporate manure? That would stop its use on grassland and no till, both of which sequester carbon & provide other benefits when compared to tillage arable. Which is the greater evil - loss of ammonia from fish manures or loss of carbon from tillage?

I'm hoping you're right, RB want us to incorporate it. OT but just picked my telehandler up from one of the best agricultural engineers in the area and very local to you. If you haven't got Steve Metcalfe's number in your contact list I would highly recommend it.

Who is RB?

I know of Steve & where he is. Probably one for a PM.
