Hi there. I swapped my Evoco head to the new SD 6kw turbine. Best thing I did. No more sleepless nights when it’s blowing a gale or storm. I have seen it peaking out at 9kw during storms. In comparison with the Evoco it is trouble free so far. Servicing is every 2 years. The new improved head has more windings and extra spring on blades.
That’s what sold it to me is , when I asked a owner in Scotland “do you shut it down during storms?” and he answered “good god man no, storms are welcomed hear”

I hadn’t considered that turbine ; How many kwh have you been generating though? Have you in stormy high aver wind speed location ?

Hi Farmer & "Brenin" again....
Yes Brenin could you tell me when your SD was up and running and what your production has been to date please?
Also did you have the 9kw tweak or is it a 6kw std set up...
My worry with the SD is it's performance at lower wind speeds, I too am on a 6.5mps site but this year has proved a weird yr as the best direction of wind for my turbine situation is anywhere from S to NW which should be the prevailling wind but this year since last writing on here has proved to be the worst ever as the wind has been the least ever here in Yorkshire, and predominently coming from the NW - NE which is poor for me as I am under a hill from that direction, to be honest this week is the first good week since Feb 2021.
So I would be interested to know what your performance has been from the SD....Thanks
