Gamic trailer electric deck

Got a new gamic trailer ordered with the electric lifting deck. I understand that it comes with a cable to fit under the pickup and straight onto the battery which is fine. However there may be the odd time we will want to use it on the back of our discovery 5, as I don’t want to run a cable under such a complex vehicle in case it upsets the vehicle electrics what is the best option for powering the deck assuming the 12v plug in the boot is only 120watts and is not man enough. TIA.

Ask Dan for a short and a long lead
long lead to the battery under the bonnet
Short lead to a spare battery when someone wants to borrow your trailer
Just rang Dan and that’s what he suggested so job sorted. He says they have been shut for 6 weeks so no idea on timescale for trailer Delivery ordered last year? so I will just have to be patient.

Can you not spec it with a battery, charged off the cable on your ‘usual’ truck. The battery would be good for 8-10 loads on the other truck, without the need of a cable being attached. That’s how the older models worked and I’m pretty sure I saw one with a battery on when I was there in the winter.

Mine has a battery fitted, to it, on the front cone as it were. Mine is square though at the front, and not the newer curved front.
I just stick the battery charger on it now and again , and I’m good to go !

I think the short lead will do the job, it will not be on the disco very often ( wife would give me my p45) but could be useful if going any distance or if my old dmax lets me down.

That's what I do. I had to change the truck last year and I haven't even bothered fitting a (temperamental) charging socket to the new one.

I did mount a solar panel on the front of mine, so it would top up the battery whilst it was parked up, but it's never worked properly for some reason. Another thing on the 'to do' list.

I think I would forget to keep the trailer topped up tbh. Just another battery to maintain and replace as certain times of the year it gets very little use as we have a 22foot Stewart stock trailer also. Using the pickups battery seems logical as it is always being topped up

they supply trailers with batteries built on them if you want, mine is ready at last.only got to pass the vosa test now.going to have a cable wired on the pickup then another cable with crocodile clips to use on tractor or Land Rover

HSENI names new farm safety champions

The Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI) alongside the Farm Safety Partnership (FSP), has named new farm safety champions and commended the outstanding work on farm safety that has been carried out in the farming community in the last 20 years.

Two of these champions are Malcom Downey, retired principal inspector for the Agri/Food team in HSENI and Harry Sinclair, current chair of the Farm Safety Partnership and former president of the Ulster Farmers’ Union (UFU).
