Gamma TB test

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: I'll answer to most things these days. Within reason.

As has been said, gamma ifn is a blood test which is sensitive to many of the bacteria in the MTC ( micobacterium Tuberculosis Complex group) which includes m. bovis but many others too.
If your cattle have not been exposed to m.kansassii , m.microtii, m.avium paratuberculosis etc. then it will pick up exposure a couple of weeks - 28 days ahead of the skin test. That is all.
If they have had such exposure, they will be positive reactors to gamma and will be shot.
Your cattle will still have to pass the primary skin test to get you clear.

There is no limit to how many tests Defra will use to pile up dead cattle.
IMO of course.

A lot more measures (for cattle) came in on April Fools .day.

Thank you. We've only had one reactor (2xIR actually) so I'm not sure why they're so keen to look for more. Even the 2IR had no visible lesions. Now having to test every 60 days throughout the summer when our cattle are scattered over a wide area. :(

I guess it's probably because you haven't had another go in the last 3 years?

If you put 'Gamma ifn' into the blog search engine, you'll find a lot of stuff on it, its introduction and it's various casualties and vet's comments.
Sorry - I am scribbling on a silly small machine and haven't figured out how to copy / paste link for you . (n)
