Hmm... B & Q are still open, as are other DIY shops. They sell gardening stuff, so it seems unreasonable that garden centres shouldn't be allowed to open - provided that they keep social distancing rules.Heard on tv this morning that th horticultural industry is facing a massive financial disaster as they have grown all the spring plants and are unable to sell them.
I can believe that ,,all the garden centres closed ,,the stocks of seed spuds going to waste ,,bedding plants ,,our local place is huge and had only just had a big delivery from HollandHeard on tv this morning that th horticultural industry is facing a massive financial disaster as they have grown all the spring plants and are unable to sell them.
Think they come under essential shops ,,hardware stores need to stay open for home repairs .Hmm... B & Q are still open, as are other DIY shops. They sell gardening stuff, so it seems unreasonable that garden centres shouldn't be allowed to open - provided that they keep social distancing rules.
Yes, but... we are constantly being told of the need for 'mental health' to be looked after, gardening, be it for flowers or kitchen, would seem an ideal occupation.Think they come under essential shops ,,hardware stores need to stay open for home repairs .
I can assure you , that my home grown cherry tomatoes are far superior in taste to anything that comes out of the supermarket! How are you going to get your home grown beauties to tase like the Spanish ones....?
That made me laugh; f^cking hell, you know life's changed when you read sentences like that!I must say that recently I have discovered I am enjoying the whole 'composting' thing a bit too much. Now I know I was complaining about the scale of my wife's enthusiasm for this but I must say it is rather handy having somewhere to dispose of garden waste at all times. I can of course burn the wood in the incinerator or add it to the bug hotel but with our composting bins in full swing it is great to see how fast stuff will break down. With some carpet layers on top of the heaps the heat that builds up is incredible and almost anything is consumed tout-suite. Well recommended. Hobby has now extended to a compost sieve that one fits over a wheel barrow with the remaining detritus either recomposted or taken to the green waste bin at the recycling centre.
Pick them green, wash in 'grey' water and gas them when you put them on their plastic trays? How are you going to get your home grown beauties to tase like the Spanish ones....?
