loads of space for another batch as soon as they are big enough, then I'll pop a few marigolds in to deter the aphids

All the garden centres and DIY places are shut here I think. It is autumn though so not so much gardening going on.
I still have a few tomatoes left in the garden, sweetcorn's just about done as are spuds, carrots and cucumbers. Strawberries weren't that good this year but had more plums than I new what to do with. Plenty of apples and pears still on the trees.
Amazing how much food you can grow in a small garden (I'm a townie) a couple of neighbours have good veg gardens too and we sometimes swap and trade if everyone grows different things.
Good education for the kids, their primary school gives out seeds donated from the rotary club and has a best veg patch competition.

I learned about tomato production at Writtle where they told us a 1% reduction in light equals a 1% loss of production.

Prolonged lockdowns, food rationing, it’ll all be over by Easter.....all sounding like deja vu.....personally I am going to create a vegetable patch as a priority this week. Funny how ones focus can change.
is it easy to get seed ?
Ive finaly layed the lawn thats been on the must do list for twenty years , dug the veg patch with the mini digger , bought ten grow bags and some tomato plants, all thats needed now is some seed

Me I was picking up a few provisions in Tesco.....looked at spuds for supper bit of sprouting/ chitting evident so I grabbed 3 packs of smaller looking ones for planting.....other than that I’ve been tractoring all week but will get to gardening(which I lovingly prepared with a chisel plough and power Harrow within watering distance of tap and hosepipe this week.)
