Might be abit away from you Gareth, but covering the closure of Chelford cattle market and all the Characters that go there that won't any longer might be something people would like to see (y)

It's a great team effort [emoji106][emoji106]

You always come across really well Gareth; down to earth farm lad from North Wales who can express himself well in English and Welsh. Well presented down to earth facts that compel people to take notice: with none of the whingeing that so often reinforces the stereotypical image of the moaning Welsh farmer.

Just the sort of ambassador farming in this country needs: I honestly believe the British public would listen to you because of your 'ordinary down to earth' demeanour., your lack of 'edge' so often seen in many farming spokesmen; and above all your ability to present the facts as they are in a chatty way, without any undue bias at all.

Chwarae teg i chi bachgen, its really good to have 'one of our own' doing such a great job for British farming. Long may it continue.

Agree with all the above! 100x better than Adam Henson's slot on Countryfile. No sugar coating here.

I'm glad Gareth made the point at the end of the programme that the aligned contracts are only a very small % of the market. It would have been better still had he gone one step further, and investigated exactly the larger chunk of the market that is failing, having established that the Tesco contracts appear to help their farmers. Rose tinted perhaps. Again, the previous of next week's show with the ice cream, cheese etc. is really only a very small % of the market given most food is bought in supermarkets. Furthermore...a dairy farm who has invested several million (of their own and the bank's money) into their farm to produce milk, or even has spend every penny of their own to keep their 80 cow herd going hardly has the money to put food on the table, let along the time and money required to start up a cheese/ice cream business from scratch, with very limited knowledge.

(the above said as an arable farmer!)

I know a few farmers doing ice cream and cheese, and it has meant that they can afford to stay on the farm, but it is not easy. There are more producers every year, and finding a USP harder and harder.
What does seem ludicrous is producing a high class product that the majority of the population here use every day and not being paid enough to carry on!
