Garlic licks for dry cows?

Would it be OK to use garlic licks to aid fly control for dry cows?
They'd be removed at calving, or ideally a couple of days before. So would there be a danger of milk taint or would that be gone by the time the milk was going in the tank??

All our cattle get garlic licks from May.
Milkers have access only at milking time but all other stock have access 24/7 including day cows.
NEVER had an issue with milk taint.
