Gatekeeper alternatives ?

Shame its good software that suits my needs well but they have gone a step too far with the data sharing and opt out or not I dod not want to fund the pockets of a company that will sell us out like this and I simply don't trust them any more

So the search begins for a credible alternative, any recommendations please ?

It MUST do the following

work planing from agronomist or manager input through operator updating of work complete
Stock, through PO , delivery to invoice
Mapping to inc VRA map creation and import of spacial data from various machines
Multi site / farms, multi stock
multi user
product verification database and planet etc built in to insure compliance with legislation

ideal would be a cloud solution to avoid installation and sync issues

If nothing like this exists I might just see if we can get something developed ASAP

An irish guy has developed something called farm flo. Think his name is Gareth devenney?? Think he's on Twitter. Not sure if offers all you require but he might be worth talking to. Likewise very happy with gatekeeper but not sure about the new way it's heading.

My accountant is recommending the Irish Company. It is called Farmflo. I moved my accounting package from Sage to Xero. I cannot put into words how good it is and how user friendly. Farmflo apparently integrates into Xero and updates Stock etc on an on-going basis..

Just took a look at this - don't think it does enough as is

I moved from farmplan FBM and earnie payroll for your farm accounts and payroll and haven't looked back and saved best part of £1000 a year in doing so. The idea of Xero integration to crop recording sound a great idea

Hi All , I have just seen the interest in Farmflo and thought I would introduce myself , I am Jason Devenney and with my brother Gareth we created Farmflo. It was created out of frustration of existing solutions not doing what we needed for our own farm.

Our software is developed based on feature requests from farmers and I would just like to let everyone know that we are heading in the direction as outlined by Clive in this post. We have a new release of the software coming out in the next two weeks but we do have monthly development builds that sees new features being released onto the platform. So if there are any features that you would like to see in the product we are happy to take suggestions and fit them in. Farmflo also has an IOS and Android app for field recording off line that allows you to capture the data in the field and syncs automatically up to the cloud app.

If anyone is interested I would be more than happy to demo what we have, show our road map and also discuss any feature requests that you have.

Hope this helps and thank you again for your time.

You have decent foundation based on my quick play with it yesterday however you have a lot to do to make it as comprehensive for larger farm business as GK is, all possible though

talk to me and I will help you maybe ! at TFF we have been seriously considering developing our own cloud based system anther seen=ms to be a lot of demand recently, GK committing commercial suicide this week has certainly added to that need rather dramatically !

I see you have cattle management on it, any plans for laying poultry? I'm after a flock production record app. I've made a basic spreadsheet for an iPad but it's far from idiot proof, and fitting 400 days of production in makes the input sheet huge.

I just want an app that asks the staff a series of questions every day about production, feed consumption etc etc and reports it in nice graphs. And then a hidden section contains the financials.

Hi Jason,
Can you tell me what precision farming manufacturers you communicate with from your Farmflo software as I like what I see but need John Deere, Claas and New Holland compatibility in my software.

A few weeks ago I saw farm plans new cloud based version of gatekeeper. Although its early stages it has restored my faith a little and convinced me to stay with them. Also the biggest and best part of gatekeeper for me is the mapping and I don't know anything that comes close. Ill wait until the new version is released before I make a decision.

Looks great. Have been trying for ages to find a decent program like this with app support - by the time I get to the office, the scrap of paper I've written everything on has got lost. Have always used farmplan but their software is the most un-userfriendly program I've ever has the misfortune of using.

Have you seen farmlogs https://farmlogs.com/? US based app we've been trying to use. Got some great mapping features. Have farmflo downloading now.....

Hi Daniel

Yes we have beef, suckler, dairy as well as the crops it all comes with the app you just pick and choose the bits that you need at no extra cost and configure it to your farm. We do intend to develop poultry, pigs and sheep but we want to focus on building out crops and cattle then later in the year we will work on the additional parts.

Hi Chris

We have step up an integration team to work on add-ons through our Farmflo connect platform, we have just completed the Xero integration, department of ag in Ireland for Livestock and PCS data, currently working on ICBF, APHIS, BCMS and Approved list of chemicals. We do intent to integrate with the systems you have mentioned we would be happy to work with you to discuss your requirements.

Hi Bandrew

We are just building out our mapping engine to give you similar functionality as Farmlogs, we see interactive maps as being very important not only of your fields but also of your yards, storage bins etc. We will be releasing the new maps engine in our next release in the next couple of weeks

Got bill through for GK the other day, insane amount of money when you have all the extra modules, especially when most of them need each other to be of any use.

I for one would be happy to move away from gatekeeper if tff can come up with a cloud based system that kept my data private. In a heartbeat actually so long as it did everything that gatekeeper does
