Gatekeeper alternatives ?

Had a good meeting with Richard Larke from Vantage this morning to discuss farmworks and it looks like they now have better control of it in the UK and have Ian Beecher Jones in the background if you feel you need telephone support . I'm sticking with the stand alone version for now but there is a web based version also available but to get the precision farming you need to sign up for a block of satellite imagery which then gets pricey. But thankfully things starting to fall back into place
@Alistair Nelson have you any more information on the web based solution? Is it being offered by Trimble currently?
Thanks
I would be keen to know more as well. I have 20 years of data on Farmworks. The software was "nearly there" but seems to be with drawn. Still use farmworks mobile for recording and vra work, a product well ahead of its time, also off the market now.

Speak to Richard Larke at vantage he’ll tell you all about it but it’s basically same as the stand alone version but a few extra bits like the satellite imagery

Well the end has come Farmworks has been withdrawn and is no longer supported by Trimble. The new online alternative doesn’t do half of what Farmworks did so we’re buggered there. Farmworks obviously still works but can’t import yield maps as Agleader have updated there file protocol. Will @ As Comms / vantage and Andrew Mansfield @ Manterra have done there upmost to help but Trimble are not interested at all.

so where do I go Omnia sounds interesting now it does costings, anyone any experience? Obdvioisly Gatekeeper but v expensive and complicated. Any other alternative that will do costings and precision ag work?

thank you in advance

Alistair

Anyone using anything interesting at the moment? Anything on the horizon? Not Geofolia, Greenlight, Gatekeeper. Unless any of them are doing anything that is genuinely interesting rather than half baked apps or half-cloud, half-not. Amazing that no truly disruptive tech has emerged for this.

Greenlight is just about useable. Do all our own agronomy here and I want to start building up a long term record/history of fields with pictures etc so I can keep looking back at stuff. The Greenlight section on ‘observation’ looks good at first glance, you then realise you have to select from a pre populate list of issues and the note box only lets you record one sentence. Why make it so constraining?
I’ve ended up using OneNote for this particular project.

Think I’m going to end up going down the Greenlight route with Omnia for my precision farming bits. They aren’t fully integrated by any means but certainly work better together than the other options available but it ain’t cheap but cheaper than gate keeper and more straightforward to my mind for what I need. But I’ll know more when I’m up and running and used it for a season but I have to do something as Farmworks is no more sadly.
