Gatekeeper and fendt

anybody using gatekeeper to manage guidance lines and boundaries with a Trimble powered fendt vario guide? Some tell me it can be done others tell me it cannot so I'd be interested to hear from people who do it or have tried and failed.

Can be done no problem. Only time you'll have a problem is when your trying to take way lines from John Deere into greenstar and then into the fendt. John Deere Incapabilities wont allow it to be released... The fendt will work with varioguide, Trimble, topcon, and auto guide. At the moment this is the same for D series rogator but will be different hopefully at the end of the month with the new software release. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply

I have 3 fends with Trimble vario guide and a couple of Trimble devices, I'd like to Use gatekeeper as the go between and the data store.

Presumably with gk I can just write the data to a sub stick then plug it into the tractor?

Could you also clarify which Gatekeeper modules are needed for way line planning? I did not find this from their website and I did not manage to activate a demo (perhaps they do not accept addresses outside the UK?). I'd like to understand the initial and yearly costs.
(posted here, thought it could be of interest to the OP, sorry if not).

There is some sort of Bluetooth transfer from GK to the fendt vario guide. I have a guy coming to do it for me this week. Whether it works or not I have no idea will keep you posted

Yeh but it's clunky as, it needs a separate Bluetooth box you have to hang off your laptop for it to communicate. You can't use the built in laptop Bluetooth interface which would be so much neater and easier.

The better solution imho is the full fat VarioDoc solution. They've dropped the price of the unit and the annual gateway sub recently to open it a wider audience (read they were selling practically none before).

For some time there has been an option to transfer files with a USB stick. Would GK support this option?

File transfer is only for machine settings and waylines. Variodoc data has to be done via the USB module although I can do it via mobile network I haven't done it yet though.

Biggest problem is getting someone who knows how it works. I am having the vra unlock added at moment so will have to work it all out before may 1 when we start seeding.

Richard your right it's finding a person that can understand it all and get it setup. Once done it's easy but only person I found that had any clue was the manager at Gatekeeper. Give him a ring and he should see you right.
