Not sure how much quicker it is than my method.
I run wires out and drop off stakes then walk back down fence line putting stakes in and clip wires on on way back to bike, simple.

That's what I do, but I carry the stakes back on my shoulder, rather than dropping them off as I go. I pace them all out at 15 yards apart and tread them in, then clip the wire on walking back to the bike.

Those of you that put the stakes in as you unreel, do you not have to get off the bike each time to put the stakes in firm anyway?:scratchhead:

I do it all in 1 pass of the bike as well, I much prefer it. Once you get into it the bike only stops for a second. Also when it's windy it saves the wires blowing about and twisting up.

With the buggy, I’m low enough I can just use my foot to step in from drivers seat without getting out etc. Makes it very quick!

Those quad mounted rappers look awkward and heavy

There is a weight to them, especially if running wire spools but I dont find them awkward to be honest, I can mount on the bike it in a couple of minutes and only takes the same to set it up to reel in or out.

Here's how I do it all homemade. Basically just a bar stuck out of a bit of box on a permanently mounted sub frame, stuck in the other side for transport. A lot quicker if your on your own and slightly slower if there's two of you which for me there rarely is. Wouldn't speed the job up enough to justify paying someone.

Atv rappa makes the bike to unstable for some of the ground I do, plus run 800m on rolls to cut down changing reels and too steep to tow a trailer in the wet, made this up that sits on the ball hitch. Means can get everything on including dog fencers etc then just drive on to the trailer or down the road has light board now. Five mins to take on off including front racks

There is a bar between the frame and a tab welded onto the barrow by the wheel that keeps it running straight. Not clear in the photos. Not much wider than atv rappa. Have to get off to pull post as knackered my right shoulder yanking out posts quickly, so I'm a bit steadier these days.
Not on the photos but I usually tow a rope with old 1 litre spray can on the end set at the right post spacing. Maximises post use and fence is better.

Do you not get trouble with the barrow's wheel in the mud though? Or perhaps you only fence on grass? I always found the barrow near impossible to push/get the wheel to turn in muddy turnip fields.:(

i wondered what yr reason was for leaving the barrow in the shed. ...i spose it might modified/frame alteration to take a flotation atv trailer wheel/tyre ...

looks like yer gonna need to be down the gym soon ........:)

That and it didn't roll the wire up very evenly (if it's slack, it tangles when unrolled IME). I always found it harder work than just winding up by hand tbh.

I don't do a great deal in turnips but we have a high stone content but don't remember being a problem. The secret is the bar to the front, it seems to have a slight pulling effect stopping The wheel digging in, plus as your not pushing it the forward speed keeps the scraper working, asBury the trash says I am sure there would be a Kleeted tyre in that size.
It's not perfect, wheelbarrow on the back for transport makes the front a bit light, haven't worked out a way to mount it on the front which would be best solution.

After a few years are you still using this setup? What about the reels. How have they held up? I suppose those are Rappa reels.

After 25 years I finally wore the rappa barrow out. A new one is half the price of an ATV winder so I have switched to an atv winder. There are advantages to both ways and I really really miss the big box on the back but the atv winder really is a great bit of kit.

Bar on the front still going strong.
Yes all rappa reels, slip clutches and springs.

I would have to pull some strings to get some Rappa gear to me in the USA. But, I need to do something differently than doing everything with either poly and reels or netting after 20 years. Arthritis in my neck, arm, hand. I have a Polaris Ranger and it would be good to come up with a solution that can run off that.
I would be fencing blocks of 1/2 square x 1/2 square mile every other month and then subdividing that with two or three strands.

I am interested in hearing about the durability of the reels? How much does UV mess with them?
